We recently connected with Gavin Jordan and have shared our conversation below. Gavin describes how he first knew he wanted to pursue a creative and artistic path professionally during the summer of 2016, when a spontaneous stop at an art store in New Jersey rekindled a passion he had set aside since high school. After sharing sketches on social media and receiving overwhelming encouragement, he began experimenting with different mediums and eventually developed a unique style he calls 'sculptured paintings' — a technique using industrial screws to create a three-dimensional effect. A pivotal moment came when his wife registered him for the Liguanea Art Festival in Jamaica, where he sold 15 of 17 pieces. A Jamaican-born artist and former corporate executive, Jordan now centers his work around the theme of the 'dangers of the single story,' challenging viewers to explore hidden narratives and perspectives beyond the surface level.
