A 20-piece body of work exploring childhood, resilience, and identity within Afro-Caribbean life.
The series is named for what cannot be taken. Not strength in the dramatic sense — not surviving a disaster, not fighting a battle. The quieter kind. Children playing in mud. A mother carrying her child forward. Brothers with arms linked. A girl carrying water on her head with grace that has no name.
These are the songs. The moments that look ordinary from the outside but carry the full weight of a life. Chalkline Figuration was built to paint them.
The three tiers
Core Works

The narrative backbone. Each core work explores a specific memory, relationship, or moment in depth. These are the paintings where the story lives.
Companion Works
24" × 36" or 30" × 40" · Fifteen to twenty planned
The entry point. Smaller, faster, more focused. Each companion work distills a single moment or emotion into an accessible composition. These are the pieces that invite new collectors into the world of Chalkline Figuration.

Three zones, one composition
every painting in the series follows a three-zone composition.
Upper Zone, Hope and Future
The top of the painting holds what the figure is reaching toward. Symbols here are aspirational. The upward arrow. The sun glyph. The open space.
Middle Zone, Memory and Identity
The centre holds who the figure is. Symbols here are reflective. The spiral. The halo band. The chalk circle. This is where the figure's history lives.
Lower Zone, Journey and Struggle
The bottom holds where the figure has been. Symbols here are grounding. The wave line. The broken line. The wound-scratch. This is the weight the figure carries forward.
