every painting in Chalkline Figuration™ carries a small set of symbols drawn from a fixed vocabulary. they are not decorative. they are not random. they are a language.

each mark has a meaning that does not change from canvas to canvas. a collector who learns a few of them can begin to read the work. the full map lives in the studio — what follows is how to start looking.

Signature marks

Learn these first

the recurring marks of the series. if you can spot these, you know you’re standing in front of Chalkline Figuration.

  • Chalkline Outline

    Chalkline Outline around figure(s).

  • Memory Swirls

    Sparse memory swirls — presence, depth.

  • Spiral

    Spiral — memory cycles, imagination, inner world.

  • Halo Band

    Halo Band — spiritual presence, worth.

Emotional architecture

Three zones
